Bonobo set about
building his style in the same way he debunked the lazy journos who
seemed intent on labelling him chillout or downtempo. That is by
refusing to conform to the preconceived ideas of a laid back style, and
aiming headlong for the dancefloor. With a heavy mixture of hip hop,
weighty jazz, broken beats, Latin, funk, and soul, with the occasional
cheeky bit of psyche rock and drum and bass thrown in just to keep you
on your toes Bonobo became a DJ of international repute. Now in true
innovator style Bonobo prepares to hit the stage at Koko with a full
live band, knockin it up another notch, rubbing it in the faces of the
downtempo hacks with a hearty cry of 'Fuck the lounge, lets dance'.
Strings, horns, drums and vocals. A full live band, more energy and a
bigger, heavier sound, this one is sure to rock Koko to it's
foundations.
Supporting will be
Up and Coming producer/DJ kid Kanevil his live show will feature
Testament on the mic, Pete Williams on percussion, Laura J on flute and
a few very, very special guests!!!
All this and a DJ set from Rob Luis, Brighton's favourite son.
This is a must see show for all those who love to celebrate the best in UK talent and dance their asses off while they do it.
